The federal government already had the powers it needed. It chose not to use them for quite a while. It doesn't need any more power, and there will be bipartisan opposition to that.2. No one will pay the higher cost, except for a few really critical items. I expect more multiple sourcing - India, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. will make stuff as an alternate source to China. 3. Once this is truly over, everyone will be really happy to reconnect in person. A lot of our entertainment industry in the widest sense of the word (sports, theater, restaurants, etc.) may be severely damaged, though. 4. Big tax increases to pay for all of this. All the money borrowed for the stimulus eventually needs to be repaid. NYCT alone will need a multi-billion dollar bailout. |
