In terms of pure nunbers, yes. But then again, the number of survivors goes up too, and at a much faster pace. That's how percentages work.

If had 100 infected people, 2.3 of them would die and 97.7 would live.

If you had 1000 infected people, 23 would die and 977 would live.

If you had 10000 infected people, 230 would die and 9,700 would live.
