It's also possible a completely harmless variant silently spreads and inoculates many people. It might even be happening already, which is why we need better testing - nature could have already created the vaccine. If you find a cluster of people somewhere who all test positive but barely have the sniffles for the entire duration of the illness, there you go!As for re-infection, the data I read is that it wasn't that they suddenly picked up a different strain (there's 8 different ones they've traced so far). It was that the antibodies from the first infection didn't last very long, but I don't think any of the re-infected have needed hospitalization, they just became carriers again. |
