The President is President of the entire country. The NYC mayor and administration is supposed to know what's best for NYC, as the Burlington VT Mayor knows what's best for Burlington.The Trump admin could have issued guidelines such as "if you have positive cases and a population density > x, you should probably shelter in place now." Not because anyone would have listened, I suspect they would have been defiantly ignored and we'd be in the exact same position now either way. However he'd be able to say "I told you so" every time an NY politician gets ornery. |
