Re: I Am Not Panicking

1) There are fundamental problems in the economy as of now. They go beyond its inability to contend with a supply chain disruption, as evidenced by instability in the bond markets. This is accelerating losses from the supply chain panics, but it's a totally different factor that is just developing and being unusual and unknown, economists don't have a good grasp of currently.

2)Had Obama been 8n office when this happened, it would have been handled in a very different manner and probably with very different results. first of all, trump FIRED most of the communicable disease people at NIH/CDC back in 2017 as he thought they were superfluous and unnecessary. (Add to that, they were experienced after SARS and MERS, and know what is needed when these pathogens arise) That was plain stupidity on his part. The fact that we don't have the capacity to test the same number of people as South Korea, a much smaller nation, on a daily basis (they test about 12000 a DAY) is the result of ill-intended policy and an overall denial of science trump is ubiquitous for.

3) Yeah, that sucks, but we can't have people attending events in large numbers right now. They are also cancelling concerts, theatre and all manner of group activities so it’s not just sports. However, everyone needs to behave differently for the time being to ensure this virus doesn’t suddenly run rampant anywhere and completely overwhelm our medical system. That will only cause needless loss of life, and that's what's most important. and yes, the NBA is a serious economic machine, like it or not. That from another not-a-fan.
