The other day I was walking in town when I chanced upon a man who I knew was African-American by most of his features but he was lighter than me. I looked at him pointed to my skin and said "darker than you". He and I both laughed because we knew exactly what this was about. Hell, he was pale compared to me. He had to have some white blood in his past, and I know that in Sicily where my ancestors came from they had Spaniards, Greeks, Carthaginians, Moroccans, Tunisians, and I'm sure a few Africans there at one time in their history. Who'se to say that way back I don't have some black blood in me? You never know. |
