Thinking about the last Canadian election, I wonder if Maxime Bernier's PPC split the vote with the Conservatives enough to allow Liberals to squeak in a few more seats to get a plurality. For the UK, Nigel Farage stood down Brexit Party so he wouldn't split the vote.

In Canada, the populist right took some votes from the establishment right.
Two months later in UK, that didn't happen, handing ol' Boris a mandate.
