I first rode the Franklin in the summer of 1967, at that time the consist was 3 R-11s (R-34s). I thought the was the strangest car ever. Subsequently, I would see a single R-11 coupled to a pair of R-32s. By the 70s, it was rare to see an R-11, mostly 4-car R-32s until 1976. There were "guest appearances" of other equipment, but for the most part 32s. I guess they went from the R-27/30s to the Hippos in the 80s. |
