They're still helping. Every time they do a story about him, even if framed negatively, they are essentially illustrating he's keeping his campaign promises. Such as, "Trump is re-appropriating $4 billion in military funds for his immoral wall!" People who thought he wasn't getting the wall done suddenly see he is, and that's a +1 in their book.

"Trump's trade war with China risks the economy!" People who wanted him to reduce our trade deficits see he's doing something about them, +1 in their book.

"Trump's tax cuts favor only the rich!" They just hear "Trump's tax cuts", see their paychecks go up, and decide the "only the rich" part is fake news and +1 for delivering on a promise to cut taxes.

And the big kahuna of impeachment which shined a giant spotlight on potential Biden corruption that absolutely no one of consequence had been talking about until "the whistleblower". People see "Trump is draining the swamp!" and another +1 campaign promise delivered, along with the bonus of Biden having a terrible time at the primaries.

And of course his move to get Planned Parenthood defunded. +1 to pro-lifers.

Because they can't stop talking about Trump, they keep him in the news cycle.

And finally, the most recent/biggest one of all:
When Trump was doing his impeachment victory speech, he made a big deal of saying something like "that one word is so beautiful, TOTAL ACQUITTAL". Leftist media jumped on it saying "that's two words omg Drumpf so dumb!" and playing the clip. Not realizing, they just got tricked into playing the news that Trump was acquitted to millions of people who only watch left media sources.
