Anyway, the anti-discrimination law in question doesn't cover religious discrimination. Which is why this order was issued, saying that, for the purposes of enforcing anti-discrimination law, Jewishness can be considered a race or nationality, at least if the people doing the discriminating considered it to be so. The order actually is careful NOT to say that Jews will be deemed a "nationality" for general purposes or for any any other purpose, so I admit that my initial worries about the order were unfounded. But the initial reports about the order were inaccurate. |
