Cutting Social Security likely would not mean what you think it would mean. The likely solution is to upwardly adjust the age requirements for eligibility by 2-3 years beginning with the millennials. This has been done before and makes sense since life expectancy is now around 78. When social security was first implemented, the retirement age was 65 and life expectancy was 63.7 years. |
