I agree Zimmerman could have avoided all of this by following instructions to let trained police handle, but as soon as the fight broke out each party was entitled to claim self defense under Florida's expansive self defense law. Based on the Florida statutes, a charge of Aggravated Battery would not have been subject to the same self defense law so that would have gone out the window had it been charged. |
