You are somewhat off.

If you see someone write "Democrat Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi" you know they are a right winger. The grammatically correct word in this case is the adjective, Democratic. Middle of the road publications like USA Today, as well as left-leaning ones, will say "Democratic." Right wing publications will use the noun "Democrat" as an adjective.
