This article is almost 4 years old.Some updates/corrections: This happened in Inglewood, so Inglewood PD, not LAPD. 5 white Inglewood police officers were fired. They are suing. The families of the people shot were awarded $8.6 million. The car was parked in the middle of Manchester Blvd with the engine running, not on the side of Manchester Rd. That's why someone considered it suspicious. Also, being Inglewood the person that called 911 was likely a person of color. The woman was found to have a gun on her lap and the article is correct that the police do not allege that it was pointed at them. They do allege that both victims reached for the are where the gun was located. The police say that they spent 40 minutes trying to wake the couple by tapping/bang8ng on the glass, shining flashlights and vehicle lights inside, rocking the car, and finally pushing it with a patrol car. The couple had little to no drugs in their system, but were respectively two and three times the legal alcohol limit for driving. |
