How do you think they get them? Stealing, Assault, and Murdering clerks.No, that's not how they get them. By the time a cigarette is in a store, the NY State excise tax has been paid. They buy them legally in a low-tax state or an Indian Reservation and then bring them illegally to NYC. Yes, a crime is involved here, and it shouldn't be ignored, but it's not a violent crime. And the major crime was committed by the smuggler who brought in 1,000 cartons, not by the guy selling them one at a time on the street. |
