The phrase "sunlight is the best disinfectant" can't be understated.If someone's an asshole, I want to know they're an asshole. If it's not legal, they won't stop being an asshole, they'll self-censor and it'll just be harder to tell where someone is coming from on their arguments. This is actually why I think Twitter's banning of hate speech is counter productive. The Neo-Nazis are still there, they just sanitize their tweets, making it easier for them to radicalize new people to their cause. |
