Malclom X was 6 when his father was murdered. A few years later his mother was sent to a mental hospital where she spent the next 24 years. Did he amount to something or did he blame growing up without a mother from accomplishing what he did?Ella Fitzgerald was an orphan after her mother died when Ella was 15. She went to work as a lookout for a whorehouse and a numbers runner for an illegal lottery. Did she let growing up without a mother stop her from becoming one of the greatest vocalists of all time? Ray Charles was 10 years old when his father abandoned the family. His mother died in 1947, when he was 15. I guess he made excuses the rest of his life, right? Bessie Smith's father died when she was very young, and her mother died when Bessie was nine years old. She was raised by her older sister. Guess she made excuses...no wait, she buckled down and became one of the best blues artists of all time. Excuses, excuses.... |
