What's interesting is that the venerable "Republican Party" will not be rendered a permanent minority, they'll find a niche to the right of the Democrats, IOW, people we now call moderates, because they won't all become Democrats. What the current system does is that it causes BOTH parties to be skewed unnecessarily rightward.
