It may also blow up in Trump's face, besides Denmark initially thinking it was a joke:"In a statement headlined “Greenland Isn’t for Sale,” Christian Juhl, a member of the Red-Green Alliance that’s part of Denmark’s government bloc, had a counter-proposal: “Trump can instead offer to pay rent for the Thule base, which until now has been made available to the U.S. for free.” This is not the NYC realty market where he can shoot off his mouth and push his weight around. Given Trump's antagonism to and unpopularity with all our European allies and NATO, he is in no position to make deals. |
