Just like a lot of the old white families on the south who were here before the late 1800s have black blood in them.How would that have happened more than occasionally? Wouldn't the child of a black/white union have been much more likely to end up in the black community (even if not a slave) and then married a black person rather than a white person? Given the social conditions then, especially in the south, it seems like a lot more people would have ended up 1/8th white rather than 1/8th black. |
