There were ticker tape parades for US Olympic athletes going back to 1912. By contrast, there was not a parade for a baseball champion until 1954 and then it was for winning the pennant, the parade being held before the 1954 World Series. Now we only have ticker tape parades for local sports teams. No more world leaders, or important public figures or war veterans. Just overpaid prima donnas paid to play with balls.

At least the USWNT play with balls FOR AMERICA!
