The Paris Commune was also when the Internationale was written. It was sung to the Marseillaise, in the Commune. The current melody did not appear until 1888. I don't doubt Sanders knows how to sing it in English. One of the English versions contains the following: Let no one build walls to divide us, Walls of hatred nor walls of stone. Come greet the dawn and stand beside us, We'll live together or we'll die alone. |
