This fire is very tragic and saddening... I hope they are able to rebuild and restore as much, or all as possible.I was there summer of '68 - student trip, was in Paris for about month - French govt. paid for 2/3rd's of expenses - cost to students about $850.00 We stayed in a French boarding high school, The Lycee Michelet - a large funky, extensive and rambling, several hundred year old building in Vanves (close to Marie D'Issy station line 12). Visited Notre Dame that summer, took slides inside and out. We walked around the main cathedral inside, unfortunately I don't think my group viewed any of the medieval tapestries, or artifacts. Was there again in 1985 - took more exterior slides of Notre Dame, but didn't not go inside this time. Again, a sad tragedy.... |
