And even if he was so clairvoyant that he saw the crisis coming, he shut the government down over something that wasn't going to do one iota to address the crisis.If he had said to Congress, look, there is an asylum crisis coming, I'll trade you something in return for legislation to address the coming crisis, they would have talked. But he didn't, because that wouldn't appeal to his base. |
