Yep. As BB pointed out, they also restricted voting power to white property-owning males.

The Electoral College was a deliberate and conscious attempt to thwart the will of the people. Just because it was a great idea in 1788 doesn't make it a great idea, or a bad idea, now. We have the right to revisit the concept.
