More analogous for the 10% to 20% of the border whose American side is suburban or low density urban.

Not analogous for the 1000+ miles of border where the US side requires a 100 mile walk through the desert once you've crossed. Very few houses in LA have a 100 mile expanse of desert in their front yard.
