"Cry about", or point out that it's happening again indeed? or that it continued down to the present day?

Usually the voices who call pointing out the past "cry(ing) about" it are the ones who want to obscure the past. The Communist Manifesto even says this:
In bourgeois society, therefore, the past controls the present; in communist society, the present controls the past.
So there is still a difference between perpetuating a false portrayal of the past in order to convince the world that it owes them a living, and those who warn of a very real repeat of the past.
