Its like a Polish Jew thinking in 1935 that the Nuremberg Laws shouldn't worry him because he didn't live in Germany. All haters need is encouragement, and they will come out.And you underestimate how quickly anti-Semitism can spread. There were German Jews who were decorated war veterans in World War I and less than 25 years later, they were ashes in Auschwitz or elsewhere. No questions asked. I think the vast majority of Gentiles across the globe, even the well-meaning ones, have at least a kernel of anti-Semitism in their hearts, whether they realize it or not. The source of the anti-Semitism may be Christian teaching or it may be something else. But its there. |
