I just now finished researching and analyzing the "Game of the Century" played between the formidable Grandmaster Donald Byrne and the 13 year old anti-Semite Bobby Fischer at the Rosenwald Memorial Tournament which took place at the Marshall Chess Club in New York City on October 17, 1956. Byrne played white and utilized the Hungarian Attack opening. The anti-Semite Fischer countered with the Three Knights Variation of the Greenfield Defense for development and subsequent attack. The anti-Semite Fischer defeated Byrne. The strategy employed by the anti-Semite Fischer was as utterly brilliant as it was unprecedented. The game went as follows:.1. Nf3 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Kc1 Rc2# I am grasping at straws as I continue my meticulous preparation, futile though it may be, for the preliminary against that 12 year old out of Metuchen. I know I am going to get annihilated but I just do not want to get humiliated in front of the masses. |
