I prefer English as it gets more difficult to retain a language you never use. I retained German for a long time to communicate with family abroad and also my maternal grandparents who really never fully spoke English even though they had been in the US since the late 50s. When family comes to visit from Germany or Austria I find myself thinking that I would really like it if they could speak English |
