Down here in South Flori-DUH, Miami-Dade County has what's known as a strong mayor, i.e., elected by the citizens and functions much as a city mayor would. There is also a County Commission, but pretty much, the mayor runs things. Unfortunately, he is a corrupt asshole, who fucks up about everything, especially Miami-Dade Transit >:(Meanwhile, where I live in Broward County, they have a "weak" mayor system. Basically, the Broward County Mayor is one of the county commissioners who is elected by the commission. So the public doesn't elect them, aside from the voters in their particular commission district. This is the current incumbent |
