His base is no longer of sufficient size to get him though an electoral win, which is all he got in 2016. Even then, the Republicans lost Senate and House seats.The Dems just won the House by 8.6% of the popular vote. Obviously 3% Democratic lead could hand the electoral to Trump, but not 8.6%. |
