You know damn well that the quality of the case is not the single determining factor in whether a case goes to trial. By going to trial it keeps more coverage on the case, which New York City obviously did not want. There is a reason civil settlements are inadmissible to prove guilt.The line attorneys in Corporation Counsel office likely have served under multiple administrations, but the final decisions on cases of this magnitude are well above the pay grade of line attorneys. They are made by the political appointees of Mayor “deBlasio”. |
