There is an element of truth to that. I had a friend who was a cop in one of the Brooklyn precincts, but he had the highest hook of all. His mother was the SPAA in Commissioner Kelly's office. My friend was assigned to the Ice Auto in Prospect Park one dark winter night, and somehow managed to drive his radio car into the pond.The powers that be wanted to give him more than a CD for that bit of silliness, but his mom had the PC's ear. She went in to see him, and began, "Ray, I know you got to rip him, but he's my son..." He came away with a nastygram in his file, but that was the end of it. I doubt, however, that Pantaleo has any family on the 14th floor... |
