I hope gentlemanly behavior returns, but in today's workplace environment, due care is unfortunately necessary.No more complimenting a woman's appearance (that is seen as creepy). No more one-on-one closed-door meetings with female co-workers (even though I'm gay, I subscribe to this rule--anyone can say anything, and it's almost impossible to defend yourself against an allegation that requires you to prove a negative). No more physical contact with women at work, not even a handshake. Nope. It's kind of sad that we must practice the equivalent of defensive driving in our places of business, but it is what it is. |
