Having actually practiced in this area, no fault divorce was a godsend. Some of the fault standards were so arbitrary that it was all a matter of luck which Judge you drew. My boss told me of a case where he represented an obviously battered spouse. Obviously off the records in chambers Judge remarks that wife must have deserved it. Needless to say it took everything for my boss not to get arrested. Alimony as my state does it is ridiculous though. No incentive for receiving spouse to work nor is paying spouse incentivized to work if salary still below $143,000 |
