Crowley is the Queens County Democratic Chairman. As a party official he cannot remain in his position and not fully support a Democratic candidate. His remaining on the ballot means he is not fully supporting the Democratic candidate. If, as he claims, he cannot be removed from the ballot, he cannot fulfill his party position obligations.One objection to Sanders during 2016, was that a progressive candidate could not be elected. This objection was counter to the polls that showed that Sanders would have fared much better than Clinton against every Republican - including Trump. The national Democratic Party is controlled by those who subscribe to this theory. By staying on the ballot, Crowley will reduce Ocasio-Cortez' victory margin. This will be used by the national Democratic Party to continue the same policies that lost them control of Congress. |
