I don’t see any inconsistency in saying that a restaurant shouldn’t be able to throw out a patron as well as a baker can’t refuse to make a cake as long as the request is made for a generally available cake (such as a stock cake on the shelf). However, when someone asks for more that is where the baker cannot be compelled to sell. If I own a restaurant I can’t discriminate on who I serve and I can offer a lobster and caviar dish on my menu, but I am not required to sell that dish to a patron who can’t afford to pay for it. |
