Didn't know that, thanks. I visited Germany in April 1973 on a school trip with high school kids from my school and one in CT. We totaled about 30, traveled throughout both East and West G. by bus. Entering into East Germany, the border guards had us wait for 3 hours before letting us in, just because they could.An East German tour guide joined us at the border and she stayed with us until we left East G. Spent a couple of days in West Berlin and then a day in East Berlin. Warned not to take any pictures in East Berlin without express permission to do so, so of course I sneaked in a picture or two of Checkpoint Charlie from the East side. I need to find that slide and have it digitized. If I do, I'll post it here. |
