They're only illegal aliens because there is a greater demand for immigrants than current immigration law allows. Therefore, you can also solve the illegal alien problem by allowing more immigrants. Why are you opposed to allowing more legal immigration?2. How will there be more taxpayer dollars freed up? Deportation costs money, you know. 3. See below 4. Moratorium: Why? As to 3, the reason that illegal aliens take away jobs from Americans is that Americans have a higher reservation wage. If you take away this cheap labor supply, then the jobs won't necessarily go to Americans, the jobs might simply disappear as the goods and services offered become too expensive to support the higher labor costs. This would be deleterious as there would be higher prices and/or more limited supply of goods, which would hurt people whose jobs can't be replaced by illegal aliens. It would also result in more jobs moving abroad, such as crops being grown abroad and imported instead of in the US, which would hurt farmers and lead to lower tax revenue. Finally, multiple studies have shown that illegal aliens pay more in taxes than they take out in government services, contrary to the right-wing narrative. |
