Primaries are one means for political parties to determine who their best candidates are. In doing so, one tool is a primary election, a vote among its members to get their input WRT candidates.Since it's a function based on the parties' concerns, it should be limited to it’s members and conducted according to it’s rules.. To permit others interferes in their business. "Jungle primaries" take this further. Often it results in two candidates of the same party in the general election. What sort of opportunity to choose does that provide? Elections are also about policy direction and that gets lost with candidates that share the same governing philosophy and guidance. |
