The design of this bridge was probably fine - it just wasn't properly set onto its base, and they tried to adjust it while traffic flowed underneath. It looks like it just slipped off the base it was supposed to rest on.How did this bridge just suddenly slip off the base ? An earthquake would have done that but there wasn't one. I think since this bridge wasn't properly supported, the stress was too great near the base and gave way at that point. Bill Newkirk |
