Two workers are said to have been replacing material, possibly tie bolts, on the incomplete bridge when it collapsed. The technique in use is called "accelerated bridge construction (ABC)", and is the first span in the world to use "self-cleaning concrete".

Numerous vehicles on the highway below are crushed.

How sad.
