I think many look down on the poor due to the mistaken belief that 'it can't happen to me'. The reality is most ppl don't give a crap about others unless they personally know them. As a result it's easy to talk down and disparage a faceless mass. For the same reason it's easy for politicians to make them the enemy by painting the poor as lazy ppl just looking for handouts. |
