It's actually closer to the "Ten Suggestions." It's literally "Ten Statements." There are 613 commandments for Jews and 7 for everyone else.

Another interesting thing that I remember is seeing a decalogue in English and wondering why they're doing them backwards, that is why aren't the first five on the right where they belong?
