Parts of the three laws may survive while other parts are overturned.

I have my doubts about this (from the Times):

State lawmakers also passed the Immigrant Worker Protection Act, which prohibits local business from allowing immigration to gain access to employee records without a court order or subpoena.

Seems like a restriction of free speech. Why can't I tell anyone I please who works for me?

I have less doubt about this:

One, the California Values Act, strictly limits state and local agencies from sharing information with federal officers about criminals or suspects unless they have been convicted of serious crimes.

This is a case of telling your own employees how you want them to do their jobs to best attain the goal of reducing crime.

But of course, I'm not Justice Kennedy, so I don't get to decide.
