Even if the seats are narrow I prefer 9 across (and the B787 can never be reconfigured to 10 across). The three middle seats end up all being better than their side counterparts - the aisle has a maximum of half a person needing to climb over to get out. And the middle guy gets two people's worth of bathroom breaks to get up without inconveniencing someone.That said I try to fly Premium Economy, which on a 787 is 2-3-2. From what I understand, the typical seating in coach is: A330/340 - 2-4-2, second best A350 - Design: 3-3-3 A380 - 3-4-3 (bottom) 2-4-2 (top) B747 - 3-4-3 B767 - 2-3-2, best B777 - Design: 3-3-3, 3-4-2, or 2-5-2, Nowadays: 3-4-3 cattle car B787 - Design: 2-4-2 (JAL and early ANA planes), Everyone else: 3-3-3 |
