First of all, Al Franken did not admit to doing anything wrong. That being the case, I don't believe that he should resign.

Second, I think that the imprecise date of his "planned resignation" is a ruse. He'll use the likely election of Roy Moore as an excuse to withdraw his "offer" to resign, thereby cheating the democrats of an opportunity to claim the moral high ground.
