A guilty plea is almost always attendant to a plea bargain, and you are pleading to a lesser offense, or there'd be no point. And, hypocritical as it may be you still have to go before a judge and fully admit to what is in the plea bargain "of your own free will."Franken did not exactly plead "guilty"; he sort of apologized but left with anger and implied martyrdom. IOW, he was railroaded "for the good of the party." |
