He is being deprived of his livelihood, put into disgrace, and the people who elected have no say in it. All on unproven accusations.

Welcome to the concept of "employment at will."

PS. Levine was not elected to anything. He was employed. And if the Met has abrogated contracts for future employment, they will need to pay him unless they can prove that his past behavior violated the terms of the contract. Further, they have not said a single disparaging word about him.

And yes, Franken was told by his peers that if he didn't resign he would be treated as something of a pariah. What of it? Doing so on the basis of highly credible accusations is not unreasonable.
